Katherine Hollander is a poet and historian. She holds a master’s degree in creative writing and a PhD in modern European history, both from Boston University. In 2019, her book of poems, My German Dictionary, won the Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize, judged by Charles Wright. She has taught history and creative writing at Boston University, the University of Hartford, Simmons University, and Colby College, and is an instructor at Grub Street in Boston, Massachusetts. Her poetry, criticism, and scholarship has been published in or is forthcoming from Literary Imagination, Hunger Mountain, Tupelo Quarterly, New German Critique, The Journal of the Historical Society, Salmagundi, and elsewhere. Also a Brecht scholar, she is the editor of a new student edition of Mother Courage and Her Children (Bloomsbury/Methuen, 2022). Kate serves as poetry editor for Consequence, a journal of literature and ideas that explores the culture and consequences of war and violence.
